I just found this Green Quaker and I'm deciding to keep it. I really don't have any sort of bird food so i was wondering if i can feed this bird some Kellogg’s? NutriGrain? Strawberry Cereal Bar?
Can I feed my Green Quaker some Kellogg’s? NutriGrain? Strawberry Cereal Bar?
Yes.
Nutrigrain bars are fine. Consider them candy. Occasional treats only.
Try to find the owner. How would you feel if you lost your bird buddy? You'd want someone to try to find you.
Reply:I occasionally rescue parrots and currently own 3 Quakers. A few treats are okay, but they need a diet of seeds or pellets that are specialized to their needs. Granola bars, etc. do not contain the proper vitamines and are considered a treat. Fresh fruit and veggies are also an essential part of the diet. Good luck with your new friend.
Reply:you would probally be better off not risking it. It might have too much sugar in it for the bird. just run to the drug store. most of the time they have a small animal based isle.
Reply:You can give it some cereal or cereal bar, but it needs a much better diet if you intend to keep the bird.
It will love cooked pasta or rice, as well as canned veggies. A little bit of cooked meat is good for it too. Fresh fruits and veggies should be given too. Scrambled eggs should be a food the bird would like as well.
Warm food is a favorite of Quakers, but make sure it is just a little warm, but not so hot as to burn its crop.
To find out more about Quakers and how to raise them, try joining a yahoo group. I can direct you to a good one if you like, with lots of helpful bird owners and a large library. Just E-mail me.
