Are worms really good for my strawberry bed?

my strawberry bed is a raised platform with soil in it, so there are like literally no worms in it, my friend said to get some worms and put them in it to help the plants grow

worms provide aeration to soil. They do benefit plants growing in the earth by getting oxygen to the root zone.



your bed sounds like a large container.. worms may not survive in it.
Reply:If your strawberry bed is large enough, the earthworms would be very beneficial. But you have to ensure they have organic matter. That's what they eat, If you fertilize with chemicals, the worms will leave if they can. If they can't get out, they won't survive. Coffee grounds, cornmeal, small amounts of vegetable wastes, leaves, anything organic along with the water you use to water your strawberries, and the worms should do fine.

But if it is a raised bed on top of the ground then yes, they are most beneficial. They help to keep the earth from becoming to compacted, help bring oxygen to the roots and the soil itself (for the other beneficial creatures in the soil) and their castings are good fertilizer.
