Strawberry seeds in the fridge?

and I'd like to grow them. The thing is, I'm in the caribbean where it's really hot. Can they survive a germination through to "adulthood"?

I really really love strawberries and would love to grow a few for myself in the garden.

I just read that strawberry plants can be germinated from their seeds if the conditions are PERFECT, but not likely. The plant has found an alternate method for reproduction and that is through its "runners" that spread out and take root every so many feet. I am afraid that your best bet is to maintain plants throughout the year in artificial invironments that will keep them going.
