colonna evoo is my favourite for salad dressings. doesn't overpower and is fruity and fresh.
Any recommendations for a good olive oil for a strawberry vinaigrette?
Pompeian or Bertolli are very good.
Reply:Any good 'extra virgin' olive oil will be fine. Just stay away from the 'store brand'. Berio is common and very good. Also not too expesive.
I have no idea what people mean by 'fruity' because olive oil is not 'fruity'. The fruit makes it fruity, lol.
For a really wonderful flavor, though, try a good balsamic vinegar. Goes GREAT with the strawberries! It is on the expensive side, though, but worth it.
Edit: Actually, you really don't NEED olive oil. A good canola or even a nut oil, like 'walnut oil' would probably be even better. You really don't need any taste from the oil itself.
Reply:Halutza olive oil is fabulous. You can usually get it at Whole Foods or Wild Oats.
Reply:You are going to want a very light evoo. Something fruity by not very much. I can't give you a brand name but just figure it is not going to a cheapo oil.
