You'll never get it exact unless you buy the ice cream from the Dairy Queen, they use an exclusive ice milk.

When I worked there centuries ago, it was just the basic shortcake you get in the store with a bit of strawberry sundae topping on it, than the DQ soft serve with more sundae topping on that and squirts of whipped cream in the corners.

Their sundae topping came in big buckets and was just frozen crushed up strawberries sweetened.

The shortcake was the regular HOSTESS shortcakes sold in any grocery store, they are packaged 4 cakes together, 2 on top, 2 on bottom, and usually sold near the strawberries in the store. Just ask

Reply:ha ha - you just brought up memories - I used to work there during high-school!!

But that was a long time ago!!!

We definately didn′t bake our own cakes!! They came in a package. If I remember correctly, it was kind of like those cake-bottoms you can buy which you then cover with strawberries and whip cream. I think I′ve seen them in the grocery stores. (If you really want, I could look up a recipie for you... email me...). I don′t think it is "poundcake" - that is much heavier than what I mean. In German it is called "biscuit"-dough.... almost a bit oily, very soft.

The whole thing got covered with soft vanilla ice-cream and strawberry sauce anyway - I don′t know how much one could taste of the cake part.

Maybe you could even buy some of the cakes from Dairy Queen - talk with the manager.

Well, it sounds like I would enjoy having dessert at your house!!

Good luck!
