You need 1 box of Sure*Jell, approximately 1 quart of strawberries and 4 cups of sugar for 5 8 oz. jars. I boil my jars and lids then set them out to dry while I remove the strawberry stems. Mash the strawberries with a potato masher in a large bowl~keep some bits of fruit for the preserves. Measure exactly 4 cups of sugar and mix with the fruit. Let it stand for about 10 minutes; stir occasionally. In a small saucepan, stir Sure*Jell and 3/4 cups of water. Bring to a boil over high heat. Boil 1 minute, stirring constantly (I use a timer to make sure this boils a full minute). Remove from heat and stir into fruit mixture. Stir constantly until sugar is completely dissolved~about 3 minutes. Pour into containers~leave some room at the top for expansion if you store the jam in the freezer. Cover. Let stand at room temp. for at 24 hours. I keep mine in the freezer and give as gifts~~~
