I have strawberry blond hair and want to use Lemon Juice to lighten it. How do I go about doing that?

How do you use Lemon Juice to lighten your hair? Do you shampoo it first and then condition it and then put the lemon juice in? Please let me know, as I would like to lighten my hair WITHOUT going to the salon. Thanks so much!

My mom and I are Lemon Juice Queens. Growing up in the sun at the beach and pool is what we did. It works best when your hair is wet of course and even better if you put conditioner in it then the lemon juice, sit in the sun (wear sunscreen) and stay out as long as possible. Just squeeze the lemon juice all over your hair. Of course, afterwards you will need to rinse, shampoo, and condition. When you do this say if you are at the beach, it helps your hair to have that beachy look when it dries. Putting the conditioner in your hair along with the lemon juice keeps your hair from drying out. Also conditioner in the hair before you go swimming is better for your hair. Lemon juice in the bottle will work as well. You will notice a difference the first time. I personally don't like Sun In....too brassy/orangy and it stinks. Yeah like that blonde hair girl said......."Don't put Hydrogen Peroxide In Your Hair"!!!!!

PS I found this website a while back for making homeade temporary hair highlights with flowers. I plan to try this, just haven't yet.....http://www.bosshairstyles.com/article.ho...

Reply:Ive heard it works!

Ive heard the juice gets put in the hair %26amp; then you go outside and the sun bleaches it!

Ive also heard of people putting it in their shampoo i dont see how that would work though, ive never tried it.

Ive also heard of people putting bleach (hair bleach or hydrogen peroxide) in their shampoo again im not sure if that would work %26amp; wouldnt reccomend it. Shampoo opens your hair cuticles (equivilant to pores in skin) so maybe try shampoo the hair then use the juice and go outside for a while %26amp; then condition your hair.
Reply:I don't know if this is the correct way to do it or not, but it's how I do it-get a lemon. roll it on a table while putting pressure on it, to break the juice free. cut it in half and [over the sink or outside] squeeze one of the halves over your hair. You might not want to go anywhere after doing this, though, because it gets all sugary and nasty and you can't style it or anything.
