How much water does a strawberry plant get? Any tips on growing it?
Use good quality potting soil, or worm castings a.k.a. vermicast. They are both absolutely loaded with nutrients, and more importantly, they time-release water and nutrients to your plants so that they get what they need when they need it. The vermicast is better but don't use it if you're planting something edible outside, because it can attract worms that may eat your strawberries. Bottom line, if you're planting in a pot, use vermicast. If you're planting outside, use GOOD QUALITY potting soil. If you can't find vermicast, just use the potting soil. But DO NOT plant them in topsoil. It will clump up and your plants will be drowning one minute, and thirsty the next minute. You can try to find these soils at www.1800TopSoil.com. They're national and I've used 'em in two states. They're good and they usually deliver. Good luck!
