I thought you had to wait til a year or two to feed your child stawberries. How can Gerber offer stawberries in their 2nd stage line of baby food? Is it safe to give to my 7 month old?
Is it OK to feed Gerber strawberry/banana blend 2nd stage baby food to my 7 month old?
Strawberries are a food that some people are allergic to. Unlike peanuts though an allergic reaction to berries won't likely kill or seriously harm the baby. If you are worried, just give your baby a few bites and wait and see if there is any reaction. Don't give any other foods at that time so if there is a reaction you will know what caused it. I gave my son all of the first and second stage foods and never had a problem. Also, if someone in your family is allergic to strawberries the chances are higher that the baby may too.
Reply:yes. stage 3 is for 8 months and up.
Reply:No you can feed your baby that. My four month old is eating like a 6 month old. Every baby is different. It's just best to feed one kind of food for a week or so before you change to the next incase they have an allergic reaction you will know what food caused it.
Reply:i gave it to both my children and they had no issues.. but i waited until they were about 10 months before i offered it. one of my friends gives it to her 8 month old and he has no issues.
Reply:My baby will be 7 months old tomorrow, she eats it all!!! Let him/her go for it. Oh' I see because of allergies, no, peanuts you are supposed to wait for, but berries, as long as she's had bananas go for it, if there is a reaction, you will know what it is.
Reply:I have always been told that you should not feed your infant any fresh fruits their first summer. Could be a myth, not sure. I waited until his second summer but gave him strawberry/banana blends baby foods from 6 months and up. No problems!
Reply:My son loves that combo! hes been getting stage 2's since he was 5 months old, and he loves anything and everything, and has never had a problem with any of it
