I don't have good luck with strawberry pots...The best crop I had was in a moss lined basket, planted on the top and sides. I also used polysorb crystals to keep it from drying out every day. Used regular miracle grow ever time I watered (1 TB/gal.) and then stopped fertilizing when they started blooming. Got about 5 quarts of berries from my 10" basket!
To grow strawberries in a container, is a strawberry pot required, or will any pot do?
welll...er...what is a strawberry pot? i think any pot is just fine.
Reply:Never, never use a strawberry pot, as they can't be watered correctly and the plants dry out. I plant cacti in my strawberry pot.
I have lovely strawberries each year, and use any pot with a drainage hole. I use soil with moisture retainers in it, or use regular soil and use the polycarb granules to retain water. Strawberries need lots of water, so don't let them go dry. Fertilize only until the blooms start to make the berry and then wait, and enjoy. Keep the plants in the sun, of course, and yu will have great plants, and delicious crops. Have fun. .
