What will keep critters of unknown variety out of my Strawberry Patch?

As soon a a strawberry starts getting some Color "SOMEONE" takes a bitty bit out of it. The cat was sleeping BESIDE the plant and fowl or fur got the only rip one for the day.now it has started on the white ones. HELP%26gt; I have had one strawberry and IT got the others first. (They are planted close to the house) Cat and whirly things don't help
What will keep critters of unknown variety out of my Strawberry Patch?
I made a "dome" out of chicken wire with 1" hex openings. Mine was strictly for stopping the birds from eating them all.

Reply:I have strawberry plants. I've seen this before. It may be slugs. Slugs mostly come out late at night and early in the morning. Get slug bait in pellet form and put the slug bait around your strawberry plants like in a circle. Also ask your local garden place for advice. Good luck.
