My Strawberry plants have bugs how can I get rid of them? Any non pesticide ideas?

My birch trees have sawfly larvae on the leaves. It's causing blisters. I sprayed them with a (dish detergent) weak soapy solution. I went and looked at pesticides and just couldn't bring myself to buy them. So I then looked at an organic spray. It had about 3% rosemary oil in it. You can probably find rosemary oil at the health food store. I'd say mix about 1/2 teaspoon to 1/2 gallon water. So soapy water right away and try the rosemary oil.

put lady bugs on it they do not hurt the plant but eat the bugs
Reply:dalmation earth
Reply:Soapy water spray...One part dish soap to 9 part water. You will need to spray everyday, best to do in in the early morning. Diatomacious earth works on crawling insects and pests but not flying insects . Strawberries are prone to have white flies and gnats and soapy water will work on them.
Reply:ok the first guy obviously meant diatomaceous earth... not dalmation earth... diatomaceous earth is ground up fossilized skeletons of ...well fossils crustaceons and stuff... really fine stuff like broken glass to caterpillars and snails... which would work if you have caterpillars and snails...if you have sucking insects you can use canola oil (any oil is fine) and baking soda... put it on right before the sun goes down so the oil doesn't fry the leaves... and it should smother out the bugs make sure to get the underside... also i would test it just on one strawberry first and make sure it doesn't have a reaction to it... don't want to kill the whole patch...
