I have two Strawberry plants, they have a few flowers on them, when should I start to feed them and how often.

Once a week, I too have strawberries, homegrown is the nicest you'll ever taste.

I bought 2 plants in Scotland 20 odd years ago, and now I have 20, all from the same 2 plants, when the suckers start to show, have some empty pot's with soil in them, next to your stawberries and gently put the end's into the soil, then you'll have lots more next year. Good luck.

First, make sure your strawberries are planted in a rich organic soil.

It's best to fertilize before flowering %26amp; right after harvesting...

but not during flowering or while it's producing fruit.

"Fertilize early each spring before the plants produce flowers. It's always best to have a new soil test run, but in the absence of a new test, apply about 1 1/2 pounds of 10-10-10 per one hundred square feet of garden space.

If your berries are the June-bearing type, you may choose to spread another fertilizer application after they have finished producing fruit for the season.

DO NOT fertilize the plants during flowering or fruit production as your berries will be softer, of poorer quality, and will not keep well."

Ron Smith, Horticulturist (NDSU Extension Service) states: "Strawberries respond well to fertilization twice a year. Fertilize in early spring before flowering and right after harvest. Use a 10-10-10 fertilizer broadcast over the plants and then water in."

If you over fertilize... the flowers will have excessive leaf growth %26amp; won't flower well. Also be careful not to fertilize late in the season in colder climate because new growth will be damaged by frost.

Good luck!!! Hope this helps.

there is alot of advice on a few of these sites!!
Reply:Fertilize during bloom for more berries. If you fertilize before flowering you'll have lovely foliage, very little fruit.
Reply:Feed them now. I'm lucky I have wild strawberry plants in my garden. The fruits are only as big as my little finger nail, but the flavour....Mmmmmmmm.
