Would coal in soil harm strawberry plants?

Okay, so I want to plant some strawberries where a coal pile used to be. The soil has coal remains in it, and I am wondering if this will do any harm to my berries? Thanks!

I wouldn't think so. Add some good soil amendments - ask the nursery people - mulch, %26amp; you should have a good crop.
Reply:POOP Report It
Reply:I don't think it would have a negative affect on the berries. After all, berries are very flexible on where they are planted.
Reply:no...but you might want to put some decent potting soil around them....the coal wont hurt anything
