can astrawberry plant grow from a strawberry fruit?
Can u plant a strawberry fruit to get astrawberry plant if yes can you type the method of how to plant it?
Take a strawberry and squash and smear it on a newspaper. Let it dry. When completely dry, make a pencil size hole in the ground about 1/2 inch deep and drop 5 to 10 of the seeds in and re cover. For every 10 of these you do you will get about 3 plants. Don't expect there to be any berries on these plants this year. Good luck
Reply:Strawberry plants are typically made through division. i.e. You take a living strawberry plant and separate into two plants. I have never seen strawberry seeds for sale, only strawberry plants.
But, in doing some research, plants can be grown from seed. You need to separate the seeds from the berry, dry them on some paper towel. The problem with commercial strawberries, is that they may not be fertile, depending on the strain. Many plants are actually made my combining plants to make a hybrid.
After you have dried them put them in some soil and put it in the fridge, they need the cold to set them to germinate. After they have been in the fridge for a week. Put them in a cool place to germinate (65F) for a while. Check out the link to google books below.
Good luck!
Reply:yes- look a a strawberry its all seeds. dry out two strawberry's
by placing them in a paper bag.after they dry out. place in the refrigerator for about 4-5 weeks tomake the seeds go through
a dorment stage.start the seeds indoors. plant in april.they frost wont hurt them. after flowering,if there is a frost cover
the new fruit or the frost will kill it
Reply:Berries will not be true from seed meaning the fruit they bear won't necessarily be like the fruit from the seeds you planted. This is because of the cross-pollination. This site has instructions for propagation.
