I fed my 6 month old a small strawberry, should I be worried?

I was trying out our new toddler teething feeder, and put a small strawberry in it for my baby. After a few minutes, I remembered that you shouldn't feed babies strawberries until they have reached 12 months, and I took it away from him. I am quite concerned that I could have harmed him, or initiated some type of allergic reaction. I am watching him carefully, for any signs of a reaction. Has anyone else ever done this?

Oh love!

Who told you that he wasn't to get strawberries?

How much baby food in tins and jars have strawberries in them? How many recipies for home made baby food do you see with strawberries as one of the ingredients? LOTS!

Try not to worry about it. My little girl is 6 months also and she gets a taste of everything we eat, within reason of course, we wouldn't give her steak!

When introducing any new foods to babies you should always watch carefully for a reaction so you're doing the right thing. Just don't overload his wee tummy with them and all will be well.

Take care and enjoy your baby xxx
Reply:im sure he'll be okay! strawberries are yum!
Reply:it was an accident, i do know a few people who are allergic though. at that age you should wait a few days in between starting new food though so you know which one they're allergic to

**** CHERYL she put it in a feeder that is like net so they cant choke they just suck on it. its a pretty neat thing though
Reply:My son is 7 months I feed him strawberries in the same feeder and he loves them. As long as he is not allergic he should be fine. I wouldnt worry about, just follow the same instructions as when you feed your child any new food. Just watch for an allergic reaction like a rash or something. Besides that I would not worry!!
Reply:I gave my son strawberries at 7 months...relax...he's fine.
Reply:Giving your baby food at 6mths is fine. Doctors now adays have put limits on what to give babies, and when, but only you can decide when it is best to give your child something. You have to remember back in the days when there was no "baby food", babies were eating everything from bananas to fried chicken. There is nothing to worry about, except for the allergic reation thing. You are right to keep an eye out for that, but I think once 24hrs has gone by, and you havent seen a sign, you are in the clear............and your baby has a new snack.
Reply:If he did not have an immediate reaction then he is fine. Now you know he can have strawberries. :o)
Reply:Strawberries are not one of the major allergens, I really wouldn't be concerned. I certainly didn't bother with most of those lists of foods to avoid because they are all different and almost none are based in verifiable scientific fact.
Reply:one berry wiil not a baby harm- but why on God's green earth would you feed a toothless infant with minimal digestive development a strawberry??=Applesauce, pureed pears or peaches dip it in water with a disolved peppermint in but a small piece of fresh fruit?? -something is wrong with your thinking process to give an infant something they could choke on
