i already bought the angel food cake, but just need a good recipe on how to make the strawberry syrupy part.
How do you make the strawberry part of a strawberry shortcake?
I love making strawberry shortcake and I'm going to tell you what I do.
I normally use White cake mix, but Angel Food mix is good too. I bake according to the directions on the box. I buy FRESH STRAWBERRIES and whipped cream. I cut up the strawberries in preparation of use. I place a layer of Cool Whip in between the cake layers and pile the fresh strawberries nice and neat on top of the Cool Whip.
Then put the top cake layer in place. I cover the entire cake with whip cream and this is where you have fun! You can use the remaining strawberries to be used on the outside of the cake. I usually use them around the circumference of the cake and take a few whole strawberries on the top. I occassionally throw on some kiwi as well.
The only this is this type of strawberry shortcake must be refrigerated. My SS cake has been so popular that I have had co- workers placing orders for holidays---esp Thanksgiving.
Good luck!
Reply:try just the strawberry's and coolwhip..much better for you anyway
Reply:cut up strawberries, sugar, tablespoon of water
Reply:just cut your stawberrys up, and add a little sugar at a time. it will make its own syrup after sitting for about 20 min. check it and add more and wait and see if its syrupy enough for you. good luck
Reply:Some people mash the berries, add a littel sugar into tthe berries, unitl thick. Then scoop it ont he short cakes and top with whippe cream, or Cool Whip.
Reply:Buy the bag of glaze that they sell in the grocery store. That is the best thing to use. You can usually find it in the produce section by the berries. :o)
Reply:cut p the strawberrys slice them in a mixing bowl add sugar ,refrige ,till cold cold cold
Reply:cut de tops off the strawberries

Reply:If you buy fresh strawberries and slice them, put them in a bowl and sprinkle sugar on them and set them aside, the sugar melts and blends with the strawberry juice and make a really good glaze.
Reply:squish the straw berrys
Reply:Buy a pack of strawberries.Mush them up.Add suger.Eat the sticky crap. :)
Reply:Cut your strawberries into a bowl, and sprinkle them with sugar. Stir. Taste. Add sugar as you think necessary.
Reply:strawberries (w/o the stems) and sugar. Let it sit for a few hours...and that's it!
Reply:just slice them and sprinke about one teaspoon per cup of granulated sugar on them. let them sit about an hour and they will seep juice to form their own syrup
Reply:Wash your strawberries, slice them, put them in a bowl and add about a cup of sugar. (More or less depending on how many strawberries you have). Stir and put in the fridge for a couple of hours stirring occasionally. The sugar and the strawberries make their own syrup.
Reply:First start with the freshest strawberries. Wash, and take the stems off, slice and put in a bowl. Sprinkle stawberries with sugar and put in the fridge for a couple hours.
If you like sweeter more 'syurpy' strawberries you can either buy frozen strawberries and allow them thaw in a bowl on the counter, they will get juicy naturally. Also, most grocery stores sell 'strawberry glaze' which is really sweet and sold right next to the strawberries.
Reply:yes get the glaze at store.... or put in blender and mix up....
Reply:buy the strawberries and a strawberry glaze and pour the glaze over the cleaned strawberries
Reply:Smoosh the strawberries up, and add sugar to taste.
Reply:cut then put the strawberries on the angle food cake then whipcream then start eating it k
Reply:You just slice the strawberrys and then put sugar on them and mix them up. Put them in the fridge for a little while and then the will become syrupy.
Reply:I slice the strawberries up into thin slices, add sugar (or an artificial sweetener if you are conserving calories), stir, and let them sit in the refrigerator until juice forms.
Reply:Cut up strawberries to desirable size. Add plenty of sugar and refrigerate overnight. Sugar will dissolve and combine with the strawberry's juice and create a sauce.
