If i plant a strawberry in a pot will it grow a plant?
If you just go to a grocery store and by a strawberry and put it in a pot your chances are iffy. Most providers spray a solution on the berries to make them infertile. You may have better luck going to a farmer's market. Though I don't know who does the actual solution spraying the farmer or the grocer....Though truth to tell this is information that is many years old and with most people wanting all natural products they may not do this process anymore.
Reply:Hey there! :) It will grow in a pot. Transplant it into a bigger pot when it out grows the one it's in. :) Good luck!
Reply:I just bought my strawberry plants today! I went to home depot to get them, but most places that sell plants have them, but this time of year lots of people are planting so call ahead to see if they have any. You should be able to get single plants and also smaller ones in a six pack. I planted mine in a "strawberry pot" (a tall terra cotta urn that has little holes or cups in the sides) but some types do well in a hanging pot, others you can just plant in a regular pot. If you are going to plant it in the ground study what part of your yard gets how much sunlight, what kind of soil do you have (you may have to dig a huge hole and put in a potting soil, like a bagged kind). Good luck! I'm putting my plants in my strawberry pot tomorrow! :)
Reply:Probably not...the best way is to buy some strawberry plants from your local garden center. They are pretty easy to care for. They send out runners which can be used for starting new plants.
